Youth Minister attends 4th session of ICYSM in Azerbaijan

Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthisham Adam has attended the 4th Session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The conference initiated by Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held on Solidarity in Action for Youth Development.
During the conference, attendees discussed the status of youth in the OIC member states, the activities of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation, the activities of the Sports Federation of the Islamic Solidarity Games and the Joint Action Plan for Youth. The attendees also discussed the international programme of the Islamic Youth Capital and the implementation of the resolutions related to youth and sports by Member States in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat and the OIC institutions working in the field of youth and sports.
Moreover, the ICYSM represented an opportunity for member states and concerned institutions to share the experiences, study the challenges they face, highlighted success stories in dealing with youth issues and the importance that member states and the OIC attach to youth and sports matters.
The strategy of the government on youth promotes peace and harmony focusing on development, Youth Minister Iruthisham said speaking at the ICYSM. Minister Iruthisham further noted the government has conducted major projects to empower youth. Noting 46% of the population in Maldives is youth, Minister Iruthisham said the government aims to hold activities which will cater and enable participation of youth. Furthermore, the Minister reiterated the government achieved a lot in terms of youth empowerment within the past four years.
High level officials from OIC member states, OIC's specialised agencies on youth, young leaders from around the Islamic world and a number of experts attended the meeting.
