Maldives highlights making the lending environment hospitable to SIDS

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has highlighted role of United Nations in making the lending environment more hospitable to Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Full collaboration and good faith are necessary between all countries to achieve the transformative changes envisioned in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, stated the Minister speaking at the Ministerial Roundtables at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum on Financing for Development.
Furthermore, Minister Asim noted challenges faced in leveraging appropriate sources of financing for SIDS, where domestic resource mobilisation is limited. Minister Asim is taking part in the Ministerial Segment of the ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development, taking place from April 23 to 26 in New York.
