Elections Commission commences sensitisation programmes in islands

Elections Commission of Maldives holds sensitisation programmes in islands to familiarise citizens on the upcoming Presidential Election.
Two teams of Elections Commission of Maldives are currently in Laamu atoll and Addu city to conduct sensitisation programmes related to the Presidential Election. The sensitisation programme held in Maavashu in Laamu atoll was attended by 60 participants, according to Elections Commission. Meanwhile, the workshop held in Hithadhoo of Addu city was attended by 87 participants.
Information are disseminated on authorities bestowed upon the electoral body under the constitution during elections and information on candidates, observers, representatives and monitors were also discussed, during the programme. Furthermore, the citizens were made aware of discipline in the voting centre during election.
The workshop held in Addu city is one of the most successful programmes conducted by the commission, member of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram said speaking to PSM News. The Elections Commission aims to hold similar workshops in all parts of Maldives before the Presidential Election is held in September.
