Societal perception of the civil service has changed drastically over the years: CSC

President of the Civil Service Commission of Maldives Dr. Ali Shameem Mohamed has stated that the perspective of the public towards the civil service and work carried out by the Civil Service Commission has changed drastically.

Noting that the civil service has long been described as an easy pathway for a steady pay check, President of the Civil Service Commission Dr. Ali Shameem said that this perception has changed drastically over the years.
Dr. Shameem revealed, people have expressed satisfaction over the commission's services. He stated that the survey papers presented at the third Civil Service Conference stand proof to the prominence the services have gained over the past few years.

Highlighting that the commission functions under the policy of providing equal chances for both genders, Dr. Ali Shameem noted that the commission has a goal of achieving gender parity. In this regard, Dr. Ali Shameem revealed that no barrier; institutionally or statuary is practiced which constricts women who work in the civil service. Continuing on, Dr. Ali Shameem noted that 3rd Civil Service Conference is a successful endeavour as fresh ideas and healthy constructive debates have been carried out through the conference.

Dr. Ali Shameem noted that special emphasis was given to overcome the challenges faced in providing the services of the civil servants due to the geographical constrains.

Maldives Civil Service Conference 2018 which was held under the theme "Reforming and Modernizing Civil Service" was conducted from April 10-11. A total of nine papers were presented under four sub-themes in this conference.
