President Yameen can weather any political storm: Defence Minster

Minister of Defence and National Security Adam Shareef Umar has stated that President Yameen is the only leader currently in Maldives that could have guided the country to safer shores during the political turmoil created by the opposition on the February 1, 2018.

Addressing a special rally organized by the ruling party at Fuvahmulah city, Minister of Defence, Adam Shareef Umar noted, President Yameen's all-inclusive agenda strengthens the country as a whole, making it resilient to any threat. In this regard, the Minister noted, the current administration would do all it takes to establish peace and harmony in the country.

Highlighting that President Yameen has brought speedy development to the country, Minister Adam Shareef said, a total of 41 developmental projects have been carried out in the past four years in Fuvahmulah, which exceeds the total number of developmental projects that have been carried out by any other administration.

On this note the Defence Minister said, via these projects, a huge number of Maldivian youth have found employment, which in turn, has had a positive socio-economic effect.

Addressing the rally, Speaker of Parliament Abdulla Maseeh described president Yameen as a 'political genius' who has succeeded against all odds to bring development to the country.

Speaker Maseeh said, President Yameen assumed office in 2013, with a strategic action plan that the current administration has implemented to bring in the desired development to the country.

Addressing the rally, Legal Affairs Minister at the President's Office Aishath Azima Shukoor stated, Maldives would allow individuals to contest the upcoming presidential elections only within constitutional limitations. She noted that Maldives would not compromise its stand in the face of external pressure.

In this regard, Minister Azima called on all to prioritise patriotism above all and work for the betterment of the community by supporting the developmental policy of President Yameen.
