EC President departs to Malaysia to observe election

President of the Elections Commission of Maldives, Ahmed Shareef has departed to Malaysia to observe the general election in Malaysia. The President of Elections Commission is accompanied by commissioner Ahmed Akram.

Malaysian news websites reported, 7 countries including Maldives have so far agreed to send representatives to observe the country's 14th general election.

Other countries which accepted the invitation were Indonesia, Thailand, Timor Leste, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
Malaysia has invited a total of 13 countries to observe the general election in Malaysia.

The general election in Malaysia will be held on the May 9,2018 with 14.9 million registered voters expected to cast ballots.
