Opposition is outdated and lacks economic policy: MNCCI

President of Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) Ismail Asif has stated the Maldivian opposition lacks a realistic vision and a policy for development of the country.
The opposition cannot keep up with the development agenda of the administration, President of the organisation Ismail Asif said speaking on Maldives Today TV programme aired on PSM News.
Briefing on the filed police complaint by MNCCI against individuals calling to boycott tourism and trade relations with the Maldives, Ismail Asif said the opposition has always prioritised political motives ahead of nationalism. He said such actions would have negative effects on the tourism industry, in turn affecting each and every individual of the country.
Noting the Maldivian opposition lacks professionalism and loyalty to the country, Ismail Asif called on the opposition to come to the discussion table and sort out the differences rather than tarnishing the image of the country. Continuing on, President of MNCCI stated the Maldivian opposition lacks a realistic vision and a policy for development of the country.
In this regard, Ismail Asif said the opposition cannot keep up with the development brought in by the current administration. Ismail Asif concluded by expressing that MNCCI have the full trust in the investigative bodies of Maldives to conduct a free and fair investigation on the filed complaint.
MNCCI is a private sector body developed for the social and economic development of the Maldives through the promotion of commerce and industry and aims to help promote and protect trade, business, commerce and public welfare of the country.
