Laamu Gan Regional Hospital opens a new thalassemia ward

Laamu Gan Regional Hospital has opened a new thalassemia ward.
The ward was opened with 4 beds with plans to expand the ward to 6 beds in the future. Currently, Laamu Gan Regional Hospital provides services such simple laboratory tests for thalassemia patients, according to the hospital.
The hospital currently does not have a thalassemia specialist but patients can obtain treatment from the facility, Director of Laamu Gan Regional Hospital Abdulla Hannan said in an interview with PSM News. The hospital currently treats 13 thalassemia patients on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, the pharmacy established in the island provides special equipment and medicine required by thalassemia patients.
