Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has revealed that the company has cleared 6, 500 metric tonnes of goods from the port, for the month of Ramadan.
In a press briefing, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of MPL Rabeeh Mohamed said, goods clearance procedures at MPL would be carried out throughout the day despite it being the month of Ramadan. In this regard, Rabeeh noted that clearance of goods would be carried out in three shifts, thus continuing the procedure for 24 hours non-stop every day.
Rabeeh forecast that there would be no hike in the prices of goods as currently 15 vessels worth of good have been cleared, thus providing an uninterrupted stream of quality goods to the market. Rabeeh revealed that this is an incline of over 60% in the rate at which goods are cleared from the port, compared to last Ramadan.
