Maldives Meteorological Service has revealed efforts to install automatic weather stations in all atolls of Maldives in its efforts to establish a weather system covering the whole country.
The first weather station was installed in Dhiffushi of Kaafu atoll, as part of the project. Weather stations will also be installed in Guraidhoo and Gaafaru of Kaafu atoll. The Meteorological Service noted the importance of installing weather stations in the country to collect data to efficiently enquire about changes in weather patterns.
The project funded by the government of Italy includes the installation of automatic weather stations in 25 regions within the next two months.
Weather stations are currently installed only in Addu city and Fuvahmulah city.
