Fifth Power Project: Biggest power project conducted in Maldives

Fifth Power Project is the largest energy project currently conducted in Maldives.
The USD 79 million project initiated by State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) in Hulhumale' is contracted to Dongfang Electric International Corporation.
The Chinese corporation engaged in manufacturing of power generators and the contracts of power station projects, Dongfang Electric International Corporation, is renowned for the commitment and interest towards the projects. Over the past 30 years, Dongfang has successfully completed over 100 power projects across the world.
Purification of water generated from engines is also ongoing as part of the Fifth Power Project, Vice President of Dongfang Hu Weidong revealed speaking with PSM News from the company's head office located in Chengdu of China's Sichuan Province. Furthermore, he lauded efforts of Maldives in conducting energy projects and environment and energy related activities across the country.
Dongfang is also contracted to develop a Male' Hulhumale electricity network. Six engines capable of generating eight megawatts of electricity will be installed in Hulhumale', as part of the Fifth Power Project.
The state-owned utility company, STELCO, provides electricity services in Malé and its suburbs. STELCO aims to provide electricity services without interruptions or technical problems upon completion of the project.
