The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a message of condolence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Tilak JanakaMarapana, following the flooding and landslides due to the torrential rains in Sri Lanka.
In his message, Foreign Minister Asim expressed sadness to hear about the loss of lives and extensive damage to thousands of homes and property, caused by the devastating landslides and flooding that has resulted from the torrential rains currently affecting Sri Lanka. Minister Asim extended heartfelt sympathies to the government and the friendly people of Sri Lanka, on behalf of Maldives at this time of national tragedy.
Furthermore, the Minister expressed hope that the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and prayed for the strength and fortitude for the people of Sri Lanka. On conclusion, he conveyed sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
