Minister for External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj has assured ties between Maldives and India will not be cut off in any circumstance. Addressing a press conference, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said India plays the role of a counsellor and gives humanitarian assistance to Maldives whenever needed and possible.
Noting there were times when ties were weakened during the past, Minister Sushma noted the two countries will always mend ties and continue to help each other. The Minister noted Maldives is a neighbouring country and follows an India First foreign policy. She said there have been ups and downs between the ties, whichever government has been in power.
