Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has revealed collection of application forms for social housing scheme will begin on Sunday. Over 40,000 applications have been issued by the end of May, according to Housing Ministry.
Deputy Minister at Housing Ministry Ibrahim Nazeem said Ministry prioritises easing the submission of forms, speaking on a programme aired on PSM News adding individuals willing to submit the applications can take a token from their QB system and check the queue online.
The social housing scheme initiated by government consists of 12 categories. It includes, 1,000 flats for civil servants, 1,000 flats for married couples aged 18-40, 1,000 flats for residents of Male', 1,044 flats for those registered in Male', 475 flats for doctors and nurses, 625 flats for teachers, 500 flats for single parents, 200 flats for people with special needs, 300 flats for tenants who could not pay for Gulhifalhu and TATA flats, 600 flats for police and army officers and 256 flats for families living in poor conditions in the western area of Male'.
The government of Maldives aims to assure suitable housing for a population of over 100,000 under the social housing project.
