Elections Commission of Maldives has extended invitation to seven countries and three non-governmental organisations to observe the upcoming presidential election.
Two countries each from Europe, South Asia, Asia Pacific and one country from the Middle East has been invited, Elections Commission revealed. Moreover, the electoral body stated three international non-governmental organisations are also invited to observe the election.
The commission is currently working on making necessary arrangements for the upcoming presidential election to ensure a free, fair and a credible election is held in the country. In this regard, the commission has now publicised a provisional voters list and the opportunity to monitor the election.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 23.
