Elections Commission publishes amended voter's registry

Election Commission of Maldives has publicised the amended voter's registry for 2018 presidential election, addressing the complaints lodged by public and political parties. More than 1,700 complaints were filed over the provisional voter's list published, revealed Elections Commission.
The new list was published with 734 amendments brought to the registry published pursuant to complaints lodged by political parties and individuals. Elections Commission has now opened opportunity for complaints to be submitted over the amended registry within the next 10 days.
Over 263,000 people are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election, according to the published voter's list including around 24,000 youth voting for the first time.
The government has welcomed efforts of all parties towards holding a free, fair and a credible election.
