TMA adds its 50th seaplane to its fleet

The largest seaplane operating company, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has added a new seaplane to its fleet, increasing its fleet size to 50. The seaplane has a capacity of 16 passengers and will be used in operating flights to resorts, according to TMA.
TMA said the Twin Otter aircraft from Canada was brought to ease the increase in demand of tourists visiting Maldives. In this regard, 1.29 million tourist travelled from seaplanes operated by TMA in 2017.
TMA is a private airline headquartered on the grounds of Velana International Airport (VIA) in Maldives. Operating out of VIA, TMA is the oldest air transfer operator in the country, providing seaplane transfer services to a large number of tourist resorts.
TMA has been operating in the tourism sector of Maldives for 28 years with over a thousand employees and has played a great role in enhancing the tourism sector of Maldives. Moreover, TMA currently operates the world's largest seaplane fleet.
