Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has begun the project to link the water supply network of Male' and Hulhumale' via the China Maldives Friendship Bridge.
MWSC contracted the project to China Harbour Engineering Company Limited on May 24. The project is expected to cost USD 1.6 million.
A bulk storage and a water production centre will be developed in Hulhumale' as a part of the project, according to MWSC. The company added citizens in Male' region will have a clear water supply without any interruption once the project is completed. The instalment of the pipes for the project will be completed with the development of the bridge, MWSC revealed.
The bridge will be completed and inaugurated by the end of August, according to Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.
