Elections Commission of Maldives has stated it has received only 8 complains over the amended voters list. Complains received include a name not being included in the voters list, 3 deceased people included in the list and 4 address changes, according to the electoral body.
Elections Commission received over 1700 complains for the provisional voters list published earlier. According to the amended voters list, 262,141 people are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election which is 859 names fewer than the provisional list.
While the commission has published the voters list with amendments, the electoral body has decided to open re-registration process during this month.
