Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has revealed he will retain the position of Chancellor of IUM despite being appointed as the running mate of President Yameen. The decision was made after extensive discussions with the attorney general, revealed Dr. Shaheem while speaking at a press conference held at PPM office. Dr. Shaheem noted that there are no legal grounds for him to resign as the Chancellor of IUM.
Moreover, Dr.Shaheem highlighted that a Vice Chancellor who is appointed to IUM will be responsible for management of the university adding the post of the Chancellor will be an advisory post.
Furthermore, Dr.Shaheem revealed the plans to construct a new building for IUM with the assistance of the government of Saudi Arabia.
