President sends message of condolence to the Prime Minister of Japan

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, following the loss of lives and damage caused by the recent torrential rain flooding and landslides in Japan.
In the message, the President expressed he was deeply saddened to learn the news of the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure caused by the torrential rain, flooding and landslides across western and central parts of Japan.
The President extended sincere condolences to the President of Japan, the Government and the friendly people of Japan.
Further, President assured Shinzo Abe the continuous support of Maldives to the Government and the people of Japan, as a close bilateral partner and friend, in this time of great grievance. The President also expressed hope that the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and prayed for strength and fortitude for the Japanese people at this tragic time.
The President on conclusion conveyed sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
