President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom inaugurates the harbour and sewerage services in Dhiggaru, during his official visit to some islands of Meemu Atoll. During the ceremony, the President unveiled a monument placed to inaugurate the services of the projects.
The newly developed harbour of Dhiggaru is 750 feet long and 260 feet wide. The project which cost over USD 3.18 million was funded from the state budget and was completed in August of last year.
Meanwhile, the development of a sewerage system in the island was conducted by Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). The project was completed at a cost of USD 1.69 million and was funded from the state budget.
Two pump stations were established with a sewerage network of 4.3 kilometres and an outflow pipe of 340 meters, as part of the project.
