Elections commission to conduct training programmes for journalists

Election Commission of Maldives has said that it plans to conduct training programmes to prepare journalists for the upcoming presidential election.
Member and spokesperson of the commission Ahmed Akram noted the important role of media to provide authentic information about the election process. Moreover, training programmes will commence when a list of participants is finalised, according to Akram.
The electoral body of Maldives has announced voting of the presidential election will be held on September 23. Over 263,000 people will have the right to vote in the presidential election, with about 24,000 youths voting for the first time.
