President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has concluded a two-day official visit to some islands of Meemu Atoll. In this regard, President Abdulla Yameen visited Dhiggaru, Mulah, Muli and Kolhufushi.
During the visit, President Yameen first visited Dhiggaru and inaugurated the harbour and sewerage facilities of the island. The president also unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the services of the projects.
The newly developed harbour of Dhiggaru is 750 feet long and 260 feet wide. The project which cost over USD 3.18 million was funded from the state budget and was completed in August of last year.
Meanwhile, the development of the sewerage system in the island was conducted by Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). The project was completed at a cost of USD 1.69 million and was funded from the state budget. Two pump stations were established with a sewerage network of 4.3 kilometres and an outflow pipe of 340 meters, as part of the project.
The president then visited Mulah and inaugurated the sewerage system in the island during which the president also unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the services of the project.
Furthermore, the President visited Muli to mark the completion of the land reclamation project, as part of the first day of the trip.
Furthermore, President Yameen visited Kolhufushi which is the last island of the visit. The president inaugurated a 550 feet long and 200 feet wide harbour in Kolhufushi during the visit.
The president has now arrived in Male' upon completion of the official visit to Meemu Atoll.
