Foreign Secretary meets visiting delegation from UNDPA

Foreign Secretary of Maldives Ahmed Sareer has met the visiting delegation from United Nations Department of Political Affairs (UNDPA), led by the Director of Asia-Pacific Division Mari Yamashita.
The team from its political affairs department is in Maldives for three days to continue engagement with the government, political parties and civil society representatives, according to a tweet posted by the United Nations Office in Maldives.
UNDPA is a department of the Secretariat of the United Nations with responsibility for monitoring and assessing global political developments and advising and assisting the United Nations Secretary General and his envoys in the peaceful prevention and resolution of conflict around the world.
The department manages field-based political missions in Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East, and has in recent years been increasing its professional capacities in conflict mediation and preventive diplomacy.
