HRCM advises to refrain from defaming candidates

Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has advised to refrain from actions which will defame the candidates or their running mates contesting in the presidential election.
In a statement, HRCM urged to refrain from any such actions and using statements which might defame the candidates and their running mates when carrying out campaign activities. HRCM has also called to put forth social interests before personal and political interests. Furthermore, in the statement, HRCM advised to ensure that all campaign activities are held according to laws and regulations.
Meanwhile, Attorney General Office has urged to ensure equal opportunities are provided to all presidential candidates and political parties to ensure a free, fair and a credible election is held in September.
