Elections commission receives submission to establish a new party

Elections Commission of Maldives has revealed it has received documents to establish a new political party in Maldives.
A decision on the submission of the documents will be made next week, according to the elections commission. The electoral body did not reveal any further details regarding the submission.
Recently, the commission received submissions to requesting to form two political parties, which were rejected as the necessary paperwork were not completed.
The six political parties currently registered in Maldives are Progressive Party of Maldives, Maldivian Democratic Party, Jumhooree Party, Maldives Development Alliance, Adhaalath Party and Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party.
