Election observers asked to acquire permit

Elections Commission of the Maldives has revealed interested individuals and parties must acquire a permit to actively observe and monitor the presidential election.
In a statement, the elections commission expressed the opportunity will be opened for international observers and monitors as well. Furthermore, the commission has strictly noted any foreigners without permits will be prohibited from monitoring the elections. In this regard, the commission revealed applications after the deadline will not be accepted, adding one without the permit will not be given the opportunity to engage as an observer. Hence, the commission has advised to submit applications within the given timeframe.
The elections commission revealed the decision was made to avoid any chaos during the election scheduled to be held on September 23.
