Non-Resident Slovak Ambassador presents credentials

Non-Resident Ambassador of Slovakia to Maldives Ivan Lančarič has presented his Letter of Credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. At a ceremony held at the President's Office, President Abdulla Yameen welcomed Ivan Lančarič to Maldives and congratulated him on the commencement of his term as the ambassador.
During the call, the president expressed hope the existing ties between the Maldives and Slovakia will be enhanced during the tenure of the ambassador. The president further deliberated that Maldives being a small island state; sea level rise and climate change are the greatest challenges faced by Maldives, and briefed the ambassador on the endeavours Maldives undertakes to adapt a more environmental friendly approach in tourism.
The ambassador expressed gratitude for receiving him to Maldives. Discussing areas of mutually beneficial collaboration, the ambassador emphasised on enhancing economic cooperation between Maldives and Slovakia.
Moreover, Non-Resident Ambassador of Slovakia to Maldives Ivan Lančarič paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim. At a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Asim congratulated Ambassador Ivan Lančarič on his appointment and expressed hope that the relations between the two countries would be strengthened under the ambassador’s tenure. Minister Asim and Ambassador Lančarič exchanged views on further enhancing bilateral and economic cooperation and discussed ways of further strengthening the existing ties, especially in the areas of tourism, foreign investment and other areas of mutual interest between both countries.
Ambassador Lančarič assured the minister of his willingness and commitment to work with the Government of Maldives to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
