Department of National Registration (DNR) has halted changing information on national identity cards until the end of the upcoming presidential election.
It was decided to avoid any disruptions in the election process, as the institution has already shared a list of eligible voters with the Elections Commission of Maldives, according to DNR. Moreover, DNR revealed the institution also made the decision to ensure that every eligible voter gets to practice their right to vote. Once the presidential election is over, the service of changing information on national identity cards will be resumed, assured DNR.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 23.
