Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has stated re-registration of voters for the presidential election are conducted by the party, in its capacity as the biggest political party in the country.
There are about 10,000 voters who need to be re-registered, PPM revealed at a press conference, urging to cooperate to ensure that a free, fair and credible election is held in September.
Moreover, Deputy Leader of PPM Abdul Raheem Abdulla said, PPM, as the biggest political party, will always work towards protecting the rights of the citizens. In this regard Abdul Raheem Abdulla stated, within a week PPM has re-registered a large number of voters.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Group Leader of PPM Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik revealed no parties are favored or prioritized in the party's voter re-registration drive.
Noting the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) always criticizes the Elections Commission of Maldives, Ahmed Nihan expressed, the opposition parliamentarians did not attend the sitting held to appoint a member to the electoral body.
