A weak government which will bow down to foreign pressure is a betrayal: Shaheem

Running mate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said electing a weak government which will bow down to foreign pressure is a betrayal to the nation.
The result of an ideological war in Maldives will be the diminishing of Islam in the country, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed revealed addressing the ceremony held to officially hand over the presidential ticket of PPM adding every individual must work to avoid it from happening.
Assuring to work together with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Dr. Shaheem reiterated he is ready to take a bullet to protect the president. Describing the failed coup of Turkey, Shaheem said betrayals to nation can only be faced by a strong responsible leader who will protect the citizens. Shaheem upheld that President Yameen has proven his leadership within his first term in office and mostly during difficult times.
Noting that he firmly accepts the ideology of PPM, the running mate expressed to stand behind the president in enhancing of religious values in the country. Moreover, Shaheem said he accepted the offer to become the running mate to assist President Yameen in future projects and endeavours to develop the country.
During the function, Shaheem officially signed as a member of PPM. The first Minister of Islamic Affairs of the current administration is a world renowned influential religious leader.
