Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthisham Adam has announced 90% of the sports manifesto pledged by the administration has been achieved.
Speaking at the ceremony held to officially inaugurate 50 futsal grounds, Youth Minister Iruthisham lauded the efforts of every individual who worked to achieve the sports manifesto pledged by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The government exerted major efforts to achieve the sports manifesto, said the youth minister.
Noting that 90% of the manifesto has been completed, the youth minister stated the current government has so far established 86 futsal grounds across Maldives with projects to develop a further 94 futsal grounds currently in progress. Moreover, the minister noted President Yameen was the only president who included development of sports arenas in government policies or mandates.
As part of the sports infrastructure development initiative of the government, over 440 sports grounds have been established with more than 80 sport facilities established in the islands in the past four years.
