PPM-MDA coalition is strong and will be maintained: President

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has assured the coalition agreement between Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Maldives Democratic Alliance (MDA) is well-built and the ties are still strong. President Yameen made the assurance at a time when opposition has been spreading rumours regarding the PPM-MDA coalition stating chaos has been created within the coalition.
Addressing the ceremony held to celebrate the success of major projects of the government in Dhiyamigili in Thaa Atoll, President Yameen noted PPM established a coalition with MDA as both parties share the same ideologies. Moreover, slamming opposition comments saying the ruling coalition has been weakened; the president reminded coalitions established by the opposition are never maintained. In this regard, the president underscored verbal agreements among opposition coalition parties cannot be maintained and proves the weakness of the coalition.
Furthermore, noting the opposition still refers to some detained individuals as political detainees, the president stated every individual the opposition is referring to have filled a post of the current administration.
During his recent trip to some islands of Thaa Atoll, the president made major announcements and plans for the next presidential term.
