PPM calls on opposition to immediately halt using its logo & colours

Progressive Party Maldives (PPM) has called to immediately halt the use of materials which portray the party during campaigning activities of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
In a statement issued condemning the use of logo and colours of PPM without consent, the ruling party said such actions undermine the campaigning rights of its presidential candidate, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Highlighting that magenta or pink is the registered colours of PPM and the colours represent the party, the party said the colours cannot be used, without consent, by the opposition movement.
Meanwhile, President of the Elections Commission of Maldives Ahmed Shareef revealed MDP has been officially advised to refrain from using materials that represent another party, following the complaints lodged by PPM.
Moreover, the electoral body also advised all political parties to respect each other and to conduct a peaceful campaign.
