President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has embarked on a trip to Faafu Atoll as part of his campaign efforts to secure a second term in office.
During the first leg of the trip, President Yameen arrived in Feeali where he was warmly received by the citizens of the island. During the visit to Feeali, the president met with the citizens and inquired about their needs the developments they envision. The president also met with government supporters and underlined the efforts to secure a second term in office for a more prosperous nation.
Furthermore, the president also visited Bilefahi and attended a ceremony held to launch a campaign quarter in the island. Meanwhile, the president will also visit Nilandhoo to attend a gathering held by the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
This is the first ever official campaign trip of the incumbent president.
