The presidential candidate of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has dismissed former President Mohamed Nasheed from the duties of the campaign manager of MDP presidential candidate. Even though MDP presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih revealed the former president Mohamed Nasheed's dismissal, it is unclear why he was dismissed.
However, on August 19, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said Mohamed Nasheed has become his campaign manager without his knowledge. Meanwhile, speaking with Channel 13, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih also revealed his official campaign manager is former parliamentarian Mohamed Aslam and not former president Nasheed.
Even though the reason for the dismissal of the former president is unclear, officials within MDP has also revealed the ties between Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Nasheed have been deteriorated in the follow up to the presidential election scheduled to be held on September 23.
