President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has inaugurated the airport and the harbour developed in Maafaru in Noonu Atoll. During the ceremony, President Yameen unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the airport and the harbour.
President Yameen is currently on a three-day visit to some islands of Noonu Atoll and Raa Atoll. In this regard, prior to the visit to Maafaru, the president inaugurated the harbour in Innamaadhoo and Inguraidhoo and attended the ceremony held to mark the completion of road development project in Meedhoo. Previously, President Yameen initiated the services of sewerage system in Alifushi, initiated the services of water and sewerage system in Hulhudhuffaaru and visited Ungoofaaru, and Dhuvaafaru.
The president is scheduled to initiate the services of sewerage system, inaugurate clean water services, and mark the completion of shore protection project in Velidhoo. President Yameen is also scheduled to visit Kendhikulhudhoo, as part of his tour.
