Maldives Police Service has summoned Sheikh Ilyas following baseless comments made, during a gathering held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), regarding the death of Dr. Afrasheem Ali.
In a press conference, Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Ahmed Shifan said the comments made by Sheikh Ilyas are baseless, adding no one reported any such information. Moreover, Ahmed Shifan urged to cooperate with police and to refrain from acts that will agitate police investigations. The police further warned of strict legal action against those who spread false information regarding police investigations.
Furthermore, Police Spokesperson slammed claims stating President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom made communications with a fuel tank of North Korea. Addressing the press, Ahmed Shifan said the all such rumours are false stating a tanker said to be registered in Maldives and a North Korean tanker held communications on sea. Adding the extensive investigations were held and there is no evidence that President Yameen was involved in such an activity.
