The presidential candidate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has decided to file a case against Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Raajje TV for defaming personal and election rights.
In a press conference, the legal team of President Yameen revealed a case against MDP and Raajje TV will be filed following serious allegations against the president at a press conference held by MDP on September 3, which was aired on Raajje TV. In this regard, following these allegations, the legal team said the president has decided to take seek legal action against all parties involved, including pursuing for compensation at the Civil Court of Maldives
Moreover, the legal team described the allegations as a direct attempt to insult the president and create chaos in the country with the presidential election to be held in about two-weeks’ time.
