Foreign Minister sends a message of sympathy to Japanese counterpart

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a message of sympathy to Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono, following Typhoon Jebi and the earthquake in Hokkaido.
In his message, Foreign Minister Asim said the news of the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure caused by Typhoon Jebi and the strong earthquake which struck Hokkaido was received with great sadness.
The foreign minister extended sincere sympathies to Taro Kono, the government and the people of Japan and pray for strength and fortitude for the Japanese people at this time of tragedy. The minister expressed hope for successful rescue and recovery operations and prayed for speedy recovery of those injured.
On conclusion, the minister also conveyed sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
