Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has revealed fake messages are being sent in the name of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's Campaign Office.
Noting it is prohibited to hold any campaign activities from 1800hrs, Saturday, the ruling party assured the messages sent to inform about separate voting stations are fake and are not sent from the campaign office. In a statement, PPM said the party has not conducted any activity to campaign from the deadline onwards. Moreover, highlighting the messages are fake and contains misinformation regarding allocated ballot boxes, PPM condemned the act describing it as misleading the public.
Following the messages sent, PPM has advised the public to inquire about the location of the ballot boxes with the Elections Commission of Maldives.
