Auditor General’s Office has instructed all state institutions to safeguard and maintain all documents that may need reviewing in an audit.
In a circular sent by the Auditor General’s Office to all state institutions, instructions are given to safeguard and maintain all documentation related to activities conducted by and scheduled by those institutions, for a prospective audit by the Auditor General’s Office. If they are required to destroy a document, the action should be carried out, only in accordance with set legal procedures and after obtaining necessary permits, the circular instructed state institutions.
The Auditor General’s Office also warned those responsible for maintaining documentation and accounts that they would be held answerable if found in contradiction of set procedures.
