Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stopped the cycle ferry services operating to Hulhumale' following the lack of demand for the service. Several changes have been made to its ferry service and schedule since the inauguration of Sina-Male' Bridge, according to MTCC.
Revealing information about the changes, MTCC said carrying motorcycles to Hulhumale' via ferries have been stopped for the time being. MTCC commenced the cycle ferry service due to high demand and the increase in the population in Hulhumale'.
Furthermore, MTCC stated many customers stopped using ferry services to transport cycles to Hulhumale with the inauguration of the bridge, adding the service is currently sought by owners of vehicles which do not meet the necessary requirements to cross the bridge. MTCC said the decision was made following the decrease in demand and to create awareness amongst motorists to abide by transport laws and regulations.
MTCC continues to provide the normal ferry services according to schedule.
