Minister of Finance and Treasury Ahmed Munawar has revealed the state budget prepared by the incoming government will be submitted to the parliament without any amendments.
Speaking at a press conference held by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Finance Minister Ahmed Munawar urged President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to submit the state budget proposed for 2019. The finance minister also revealed efforts to compile the state budget for next year has begun. The minister said efforts to collect information from government authorities are now underway.
Furthermore, Minister Munawar stated the request for the opposition to compile the budget was made to minimise the challenges which could be faced by the new government when assuming office in November. The minister noted it is important to finalise the policy of the incoming government via the state budget.
While finance ministry has requested the president-elect to prepare the budget as per the policies and the structure of the new administration, it has also assured to offer technical assistance to the president-elect in preparing the budget for 2019.
