President-Elect will govern impartially: Former President Maumoon

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has revealed one major aim of President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be to govern according to the law, regulations and impartially.

Speaking to media following the meeting with Vice President-Elect Faisal Naseem, the former president stated the incoming government has reassured the country will run, under the stewardship of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, impartially without prioritising any individual adhering to the coalition.

Former President Maumoon highlighted the coalition government will be run according to rules and regulations and noted all institutions will be urged to follow the law. He also noted the importance of maintaining the coalition government.

Meanwhile, Vice President-Elect Faisal Naseem stated the biggest support during the campaign and throughout the election was extended by former President Maumoon. Reiterating the coalition government will be formed for the advancement of the people, Faisal Naseem expressed the new government will fulfil the needs of citizens. He said peace and justice will be brought to the country with the advisory of the coalition leaders.

Assuring every citizen will be treated fairly, the vice president-elect noted peace and sovereignty will be prioritised during the reign of the new administration.
