Elections Commission of Maldives has advised all political parties to abide by Supreme Court order regarding the 12 disputed parliament seats.
Earlier, Elections Commission had overturned its decision regarding the 12 disputed seats in parliament and called off by-elections for the constituencies.
However, following the Supreme Court order to annul the decision of Elections Commission, it has advised to follow the order regarding the 12 disputed seats in parliament. The order also stated any act or decision regarding the 12 disputed seats in parliament will be an act of influencing and obstructing the role and duties of the Supreme Court.
Following the Supreme Court order, Elections Commission revealed it will respect the decision and assured to cooperate with Supreme Court and relevant authorities.
