Chinese Ambassador calls on Maldivian President-Elect

Ambassador of China to Maldives Zhang Lizhong has paid a courtesy call on President-Elect of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

During the call, Ambassador Zhang Lizhong congratulated President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for his recent victory in the presidential election and held discussion on how China can continue to assist Maldives in its development, in particular, housing, water and sewerage and tourism. The ambassador and the president-elect further discussed foreign policy, with Ibrahim Mohamed Solih mentioning his foreign policy would prioritise democracy, human rights and climate change.

The ambassador also extended an invitation to the president-elect to make a state visit to China once he is sworn into office.
