Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has revealed Housing Development Corporation (HDC) will now be selecting the recipients for the land plots issued as part of the social housing project of the government.
Addressing a press conference, Housing Minister Muizzu stated so far application forms submitted have exceeded 5-thousand assuring the forms will be forwarded to HDC. Housing Minister Muizzu said all the reviewing, evaluation and all additional work will be conducted by HDC.
Stating the 500 plots were decided to be issued due to a cash flow issue faced by HDC, Housing Minister revealed HDC will issue 100 plots from the beach front in Hulhumale' for bidding and 400 plots for social housing. Adding the housing ministry previously had plans to select recipients for the plots, the minister said HDC will be conducting the selection in accordance with the government social housing scheme. He noted HDC will provide further information and announce the application process.
The housing minister also spoke on the important development projects initiated by the government to solve the housing issues.
