Transition Committee reveals it gets most support from President’s Office during transition efforts

The Transition Committee, established by President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has revealed the President’s Office is the government institution which has given highest level of cooperation during the transition period.

Speaking at a press conference, Chairman of Transition Abdulla Shahid said the committee has held meetings with 67 government institutions and authorities so far. Shahid said the committee has received cooperation from generally all the institutions and authorities. However, he said the committee has faced some sectors of the current administration which have not cooperated during the transfer of power.

Speaking to the media, Director General of Transition Ahmed Latheef revealed although the committee has faced some obstacles, it has exerted major efforts to come to a common ground with such institutions and authorities with the assistance of Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives.

The opposition coalition has established 13 committees to assist in the transfer of power. The coalition revealed there are 418 individuals assisting the President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during the transition period.
